AOC Granted to Vietnam’s second low-cost airline - VietJetAir

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) today green-lighted VietJetAir’s entry into the local aviation industry.
With our new Aircraft Operation Certificate (AOC), we at VietJetAir can now operate as Vietnam’s second low-cost airline.
Nguyen Duc Tam, Deputy Director of VietJetAir, said: “An AOC is required for any air carrier to operate commercial flights. To obtain the AOC, we readied ourselves for all facets of its operations from recruitment, aircraft leasing and booking system installation to financial ability.”
“The airline also has to prove that it is well prepared for flight operations, aircraft maintenance, engineering, and air transport infrastructure,” said Tam.
Tam said VietJetAir had leased 3 new Airbus A320s in October and its maiden flight was expected on Christmas Day. The operation of high-quality, new aircraft would be key to VietJetAir’s future success as their use minimized technical problems that could cause unexpected flight delays.
Our airline – Vietnam’s first private carrier licensed for both domestic and international routes – has recruited more than 40 experienced foreign pilots and has also trained more than 50 flight attendants overseas for its upcoming commercial flights.
Initially, VietJetAir will operate four flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi per day. The number will rise to 14 in early 2012 with the Ho Chi Minh City–Da Nang route to be launched in early 2012.
The airline is also planning to operate international routes from Ho Chi Minh City to other large Asian cities from the middle of 2012
