(Ho Chi Minh City, 11 January 2012) – Vietnam’s new budget airline VietJetAir boosted flight frequency between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to 3 return flights daily on 10 January 2012 to meet the rising demand of Vietnamese and international tourists in the lead-up to the busy Lunar New Year holiday period.

The country’s leading budget airline has also announced its charges for transporting apricot and cherry branches – Vietnamese traditional spring flowers – on its flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from 10 January 2012 to 10 February 2012.

VietJetAir will charge VND300,000 (less than US$15) for an apricot or cherry blossom branch. All passengers, including those have already booked tickets, can get more information at www.vietjetair.com or by contacting VietJetAir booking offices nationwide or our call center on 1900 1886 from 8am until 10pm every day.

A VietJetAir commercial representative said: “Passengers need to carefully wrap their apricot and cherry branches with bags or cardboard and transport them with their checked baggage. “We also recommend our passengers be aware of increased traffic on the way to and from the airport during the Tet period. Your early ticket bookings with checked baggage will also make travelling at this busy time of year more pleasant.”

Last weekend, VietJetAir sold seats on flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for just US$12. The sale was for passengers in the capital wanting to travel from January 10, 2012 to January 23, 2012 to celebrate Lunar New Year and/or visit friends and relatives in the sunny southern metropolis.

Ernest Jolidon was the first passenger to get hold of one of these super low-cost tickets and travelled on 10 January. Jolidon is just one of many of thousands passengers who have been able to travel with VietJetAir for as little as US$12 or US$5 or even US$0.5 since the airline took the skies in late 2011.
