VietJetAir flights on 16 January, 2012 (23 lunar December) received special presence of Ong Cong (the Land God) and Ong Tao (the Kitchen God) who were on the way to Heaven for year-end meeting with Ngoc Hoang (the Jade Emperor). The event surprised all passengers on flights thanks to their friendliness and enthusiasm.
The Vietnamese have a custom of seeing off Ong Cong and Ong Tao on 23 lunar December. Both go to Heaven to brief Ngoc Hoang on the life of the owner of the house where they stay, and pray for luck, prosperity and happiness. On New Year's Eve, both Gods will come back to earth and continue their routine duty of looking after the kitchen of the house.
Ong Tao excitingly said: “I’ve been told that there is a new low cost airline called VietJetAir in Vietnam, which is well known for affordable prices, friendly professional services, and new well-equipped aircraft. We therefore decided to fly VietJetAir for the trip to Heaven this year given the current flat economic situation. On this occasion, we also have small and meaningful gifts to passengers who are expected to enjoy the best of Lunar New holiday or Tet.”
VietJetAir flight attendants, who have actually appeared in Ong Tao & Ong Cong costume, went around the plane, greeting and presenting gifts to passengers. The move reflects VietJetAir’s good luck wishes to its passengers traveling during The Ong Cong Ong Tao Day and Tet period.
VietJetAir passenger Pham Thi Nga said: “My family members and I did have good time with Ong Cong Ong Tao on board. We were all touched by wishes and gifts from them on this special day when we come home to celebrate Tet after a year being away for work.”
Vietnam’s new low cost carrier VietJetAir targets to bring flying experiences to all Vietnamese and international tourists to the country, even low-income earners, thanks to affordable and flexibly priced tickets, innovative friendly and professional in-flight services and atmosphere.
VietJetAir commercial representative said: “We expect that all passengers on our flights during the day have been enjoying the presence of Ong Cong Ong Tao. VietJetAir aims to not only become the most favorite airline in Vietnam and the region in the future, but also to be a pioneer in preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultures and customs via creative and fantastic events.”
